Background

Tim is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society. Tim has had a passion for counselling people for the last 28 years, 21 of these as a psychologist. He has provided counselling support and guidance to a vast and varied demographic population. In this regard, he has worked with management, individuals and groups from hundreds of organisations in both government and corporate sectors. These included mines, hospitals/health services, police and forensic populations (adult and youth both within and outside correctional facilities). He has also worked within the educational arena (school and tertiary settings). He has had extensive experience as a National and International Trauma Response Psychologist (including victims of Maritime, Cyclone, Flood and Bush Fire disasters).

 Tim has extensive counselling experience in Critical Incident Management, Employee Assistance Counselling, Relationship Counselling, Family Counselling, Children’s Counselling, Return to Work Support Counselling, Grief and Trauma Counselling, Redundancy Support and Management and Suicide Assessments. He has also worked extensively in Indigenous Communities throughout Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia where he has provided counselling support and assessments for trauma victims.

Tim applies counselling strategies and techniques to a wide variety of psychological issues including PTSD and trauma of all kinds- anxiety, depression, stress, suicidal ideation and self-harming, phobias, relationship problems and conflicts, grief and loss, and improving self-worth to mention a few.

Therapeutic Approach

Tim uses an eclectic non-judgemental approach in counselling with the focus being on holistic healing. Working in partnership with his clients he utilises a variety of psychological therapies and techniques tailored to their needs. The modalities include Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Mindfulness Techniques, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and he utilises Narrative Therapy and Visual and Guided Imagery extensively.

Fees

 The current recommended fees according to the Australian Psychological Society is $251 for an hour, however Tim is passionate about providing excellent care at an affordable price, hence he instead offers his services as per below:

$40 per hour - Standard Fee

Using a Mental Health Care Plan - the gap you pay is only $55.20

Exceptions

BULK BILLED - no Gap fee if:

*  Unemployment Pension with Health Care Card using Mental Health Care Plan from GP

*  Age Pension using Mental Health Care Plan from GP

*  Disability Pension using Mental Health Care Plan from GP
